Discuss the creation of an independent democratic organization to advance the Common Good

Chapter 12
Roll Out
Developing and affecting a plan to populate the organization, and put it into use

It will be crucial that meticulous planning must go into rolling out the organization for use after its infrastructure is fully developed. The early days and months of the organization’s public existence will have a disproportionate impact on its subsequent success or failure. (As a twig is bent, so grows the tree, etc). It will be vulnerable during that time to forces weighing against it that will be much less significant once the organization is fully operational and well established.

We must try to anticipate every possible problem that we can imagine might arise, and make plans to deal with them. If we do that, we will be better prepared to deal with the inevitable problems that will confront us that we did not anticipate. The latter will be more manageable, and we will have more attention and energy to devote to them, because our meticulous planning for the former has freed our attention by creating contingent solutions in advance.

What follows in this chapter is our own prototype vision of a roll out procedure. Like everything else presented in this paper, this is only intended as a prototype plan to provide a departure point for ongoing developmental discussion. We hope that the ideas presented here can be developed, improved, or, where appropriate, completely replaced with better ideas.
