Millions of us realize that if we value our freedoms, if we value our legacy of Democracy and our inalienable civil and human rights, we must do something to protect them now. It may discourage us to see that too many of our fellow citizens are mired in the confusions of disinformation, trapped in narrow-mindedness born from ignorance and fear, or lost to the apathy that comes from believing they are powerless, but we must realize that there are millions upon millions of us who are keenly aware of the emergencies that threaten us, and are avidly looking for a proper and reasonable way to respond to them. These millions of us need to find the means to unite ourselves into an effective and powerful political force.
The purpose of this proposal is to attract the participation of people with needed skills, ideas, expertise, interests, and influence to participate in an ambitious project that will, if successful, provide us the means to respond effectively to the emergencies of our times. Our objective is to create an organization that can use the full potential of modern digital communications technology to tap into the power that True Democracy offers to the nation’s citizens, to forge the means to exert our united will in the nation’s political arena.
We must NOT resign ourselves to our powerlessness in the face of the powerful forces that control our nation. We must NOT resign ourselves to the lack of genuine democracy in this nation. We can forge a Democracy of our OWN, and we can use it to exert our democratically united will in the political affairs of the nation.
We believe that the dangers that confront us are unprecedented in our experience, and that unprecedented action is therefore required. We must do what has never been done before. We believe that modern digital communications technology presents us with opportunities for political organization that we have never had before. We believe that it is imperative that we exploit these opportunities fully.
This proposal outlines a prototype plan for a difficult and ambitious project. We hope that people who read this paper will be motivated to participate. This project cannot succeed otherwise. Success will require that those who participate will take up full ownership and responsibility for developing this idea.
This proposal is, therefore, not presented as anything intended to resemble a fully developed idea, let alone a finished product. Although considerable detail is sketched out herein, this is only intended to provide a starting point for discussion. It is intended to provide a basic idea and direction. This is a presentation of a prototype plan that is intended to solicit creative and constructive criticism, whose purpose is to develop and improve that plan.
Accomplishing this project’s ambitious goal will require the diverse skills and energies of a large number of people:
It will require people with expertise in political science and democratic systems, to help with the nuts and bolts design of the organization, to help fashion its bylaws (constitution).
It will require people with the technical skills to develop the advanced software technology through which the democratic system will function.
It will require people with legal and financial expertise to establish the group’s proper legal footing and financial accounting systems.
It will require people with fund raising influence, contacts, and expertise to procure the seed money that will be required to get the group built and established.
It will require people with general organizing skills to roll out the plan once it is built and ready to be populated.
It will require the participation of people who command influence, people whose opinions are respected, people whose support for the project would attract the support of others.
But most of all, we need the participation of concerned citizens who are hungry for a way to express their rights and powers of citizenship in an organized and concerted effort that can translate into real political power.
We need anyone with the interest and energy to help move this forward. Please contact us by participating on this blog, or else by email, at:
